1. What is taurine and why does my dog need it?

Taurine is an amino acid that plays a critical role in your dog's heart function, vision, brain development, and immune health. Unlike humans, some dogs — especially certain breeds — don't produce enough taurine on their own or don't get enough from their diet. This can lead to serious health issues over time, most notably dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a potentially life-threatening heart condition. Supplementing with taurine helps fill that gap and supports your dog's overall health from the inside out.

2. Which breeds are most at risk for taurine deficiency?

While any dog can develop a taurine deficiency, certain breeds are genetically more prone to it. These include golden retrievers, cocker spaniels, boxers, Doberman pinschers, Great Danes, Newfoundlands, Irish wolfhounds, and Saint Bernards. If you're feeding a grain-free diet, the risk increases across all breeds. That said, taurine supplementation is safe and beneficial for dogs of any breed, size, or age — it's not just for at-risk dogs.

3. Is Pawsome safe for puppies?

Yes. Taurine is a naturally occurring amino acid and is safe for dogs at all life stages, including puppies. In fact, taurine is especially important during early development because it supports heart, brain, and eye development. If you have a young puppy, we recommend starting with a half scoop and working up to a full scoop. As always, check with your vet if you have any concerns about dosing for very young or very small dogs.

4.How do I give Pawsome to my dog?

It couldn't be easier. Just scoop the recommended amount and mix it directly into your dog's wet or dry food. Pawsome is unflavored and dissolves quickly, so most dogs eat it without even noticing it's there. No pill pockets, no cheese wrapping, no wrestling your dog to the ground. One scoop, mixed in, done.

5. How much should I give my dog?

Dosing depends on your dog's weight. As a general guideline: dogs under 25 lbs get half a scoop, dogs 25–75 lbs get one full scoop, and dogs over 75 lbs get one and a half to two scoops daily. Each tub comes with a measuring scoop inside. If your vet has recommended a specific dosage based on your dog's health needs, always follow their guidance first.

6. How long before I see results?

Most dog owners report noticeable changes within 2–4 weeks. The most common early signs are increased energy, more playfulness, and better alertness. Heart health improvements take longer to measure and typically show up at your dog's next vet checkup, usually around the 2–3 month mark. Taurine works cumulatively, so consistency is key — the longer your dog stays on it, the more benefit they get.

7. Can I give Pawsome alongside other supplements or medications?

Yes. Taurine is a naturally occurring amino acid, not a drug, and it's generally very safe to combine with other supplements like glucosamine, fish oil, or probiotics. It also doesn't interact with most common medications. That said, if your dog is currently on heart medication or being treated for a specific condition, we always recommend letting your vet know you're adding taurine to their routine just so everyone's on the same page.

8. Is Pawsome only for dogs with heart problems?

Not at all. While taurine is especially important for dogs with or at risk for heart conditions like DCM, it benefits all dogs. Taurine supports heart muscle function, sharp vision, healthy brain function, immune strength, and even reproductive health. Think of it like a daily multivitamin for your dog's most important organs. You don't have to wait for a problem to start protecting against one.

9. What's actually in Pawsome? Are there any fillers or additives?

Pawsome is pure taurine powder. That's it. No fillers, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no preservatives, no added sugars, no grain, no soy, no dairy. Every batch is third-party lab tested for purity and potency and manufactured in a GMP-certified facility. We keep it simple because your dog doesn't need extra junk — just the ingredient that actually works.
